Educational Support for Students of Thuppitiya Maha Vidyalaya Affected by Cyclone Ditwah
Sukhita Welfare Foundation proudly launched its 14th welfare project on 27th December 2025 at Thuppitiya Central College in Bambarapana, Maspanna. This initiative marked another meaningful step in the Foundation’s continued commitment to supporting education and community recovery in rural Sri Lanka. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Tisarana Sri Lanka Buddhist Association of Norway and its dedicated members, as well as to all devotees and friends of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara in Norway. Your compassion, encouragement, and generous contributions played a vital role in making this project possible. We also sincerely acknowledge the invaluable support of the Sumaga Welfare Organisation in Norway, whose assistance was highly appreciated throughout the process. This timely project was made successful through your donations, goodwill, and continuous blessings. Every contribution reflected a shared belief in uplifting education and rebuilding communities affected by hardship. Thuppitiya Central College, a historic institution with over 100 years of service, has long stood as a pillar of learning for generations in the region. Many of its past students have gone on to serve the nation in various professional fields, a testament to the school’s enduring educational legacy. Even today, its students continue to achieve excellent results in island-wide examinations and competitions, demonstrating resilience, talent, and determination. In the aftermath of the devastating Dithva cyclone, this project brought more than physical assistance—it delivered emotional strength, hope, and renewed confidence. Both students and parents were encouraged to believe in their ability to rebuild their lives and restore their surroundings with unity and perseverance.
