Emergency relief aid to floods & landslides

June 11, 2024

In response to the devastating floods that struck the Ratnapura region, the Sukhita Welfare Foundation launched a welfare initiative on 11 June 2024 to support 50 affected families. Homes were damaged, livelihoods were disrupted, and many families were left struggling to meet their basic needs. Understanding the urgency of the situation, our team worked closely with local communities to identify those most in need. Essential relief packages were distributed, including food supplies, daily necessities, and basic household items. Beyond immediate aid, the project focused on helping families regain a sense of stability and dignity during a time of uncertainty. This initiative was made possible through the generous support of the Tisarana Sri Lanka Buddhist Association of Norway, whose contribution enabled us to respond quickly and effectively. Their compassion and commitment played a vital role in bringing relief and hope to those affected.
